The 2019 trails season is winding down as snow and cold move in to the valley. 2019 has been a flurry of activity for Beuna Vista Singletrack Coalition (BVSC) with three brand new trails built, new trailheads established on the “Vitamin B” trail, many volunteer hours of restoration work completed, maintenance of existing trails and seasonal closure gates installed on “Vitamin B” and “Unchained”. BVSC is celebrating the incredible season by holding the 3rd Bikes. Boots. Beer. Social at 5:30pm on Wednesday, November 6th at Eddyline-South Main. Everyone is welcome to join us as we review the action-packed summer, preview the upcoming season and provide information on how YOUR skills can help BVSC. Of course, socializing with trails enthusiasts, whether hikers, bikers or runners is a big part of the evening and Eddyline will be extending Happy Hour pricing.
Prior to the social event, the public is also invited to join BVSC for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the new trails as a part of the local singletrack system. Meet at the upper 304 Midland trailhead at 4pm to help us recognize our many incredible partners: Town of BV, Colorado Mountain Club, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Southwest Conservation Corps, Royal Gorge Field Office-BLM, Salida Ranger District USFS and all of our amazing community volunteers!

Matchstick Productions: Return to Send'er-at 6 PM – 9 PM, Surf Hotel, 1012 Front Loop, Buena Vista, CO. (719) 966-7048 Lets break some records this year! The annual ski movie premier and fundraiser is back. The take goes towards helping students with disabilities ski in the 2019-20 season at the BOEC in Breckenridge Colorado. The raffle is looking solid and this year! November 9th we will again be premiering Matchstick Productions newest ski film:“Return to Send'er”, Four elite freeskiers—a veteran, a rookie, an innovator and a big mountain skier carrying on his father’s legacy—put together powerful, insightful individual segments before joining forces for the mother of all heliskiing trips. This year we will return to one single showing of the film with a larger space in the Ivy Ballroom we can do one large group showing doors at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. We will have an intermisson part way through and have our HUGE Raffle! We will have all sorts of gear and swag to raffle off. Each movie ticket comes with one raffle ticket and more will be available to purchase the day of. You can purchase your film tickets in advance at CKS Main Street or The Trailhead. Adults $10 and Kids under 12 $5. CKS Main Street will also be having a ski swap all day the day of. So come check out used gear or drop some gear off with them. 19th Annual Two Turkey Relay ( Hosted by Chaffee County Running Club), at 9 AM – 11 AM, Riverside Park, Salida, CO. 19th Annual Two Turkey Relay! This event is a mostly for fun, two person relay. First team member will run a 2 mile road loop, then tag their partner, who will then run the same loop. Cost is only $3 for CCRC members and $5 for non members. Registration begins at 9am in Riverside Park in Salida; we will begin picking teams, by random drawing, at 9:30am. Anyone who is capable of running continuously for two miles is encouraged to enter. Two minute handicaps are given to all females, anyone 13 or younger, and anyone 60 or older. We’re also looking for volunteers to bake pies or any other baked goods as prizes. Learn about visual storytelling through making short comics. The comics made in the class can be scanned or copied, and shared with friends. You’ll learn how to create a little "book" any time you have paper, scissors and a pencil!
All ages. Limit 10. Students will see a short demonstration (15~30 minutes) at the start of each class to learn about various aspects of comics (such as drawing cartoon characters and how to use proportions) At the end of the class, we’ll compile all of the comics created into a PDF that anyone can download to highlight the talent and creativity in our community. This class is offered for free to the public thanks to the William Boddy Passion to Learn Scholarship. Pre-registration is required.
Parade of Lights-Buena Vista,CO.A home town tradition which is open to one and all; businesses, non-profits, churches, schools, neighborhoods, horses and carriages are all welcome to enter the parade with a float, bike or illuminated idea. Parade participants meet and queue at the south parking area in South Main St. and sign a waiver. Parade queue will start at 4:30pm. We are encouraging EVERYONE to join or merge with the Parade of Lights as it passes you by as we all then meet at the East Main St. Community Tree Lighting (Optimist Splash Park).
